Those of you who know me, know of my fascination with shoes and foot function. I am amazed that we have an entire medical discipline devoted to the foot and we still don't have a definitive grasp on optimizing it's function.
Check out this article and video (below) featuring Professor Daniel Lieberman and staff from Havard University. I pray that in the least it inspires you to take a further look in to foot function. Godspeed!

interesting stuff. In clinical practice we always ask ppl to get a good pair of running shoe, whereas in fact barefoot running(acccording to the video) may be the better solution. But there is a drawback with barefoot running, as it does not protect you feet from pointy objects on the road.

Ofcourse. We definitely don't want individuals placing themselves at risk by attempting to run barefoot in areas that may have sharp objects. However, we may want to train them to run barefoot in areas such as grass and/or dirt to teach them how to proper load their feet and thus kinetic chain when running so that when they do don shoes they may continue to load in an efficient manner.
